A smoother ride for your stuff

At Lugg, we know timing is everything. Coordinating a move—whether it's a couch from Facebook Marketplace, a donation pick up, or a full apartment relocation—is a logistical dance.

We already send timely updates in the app, but let’s be real, most people aren’t staring at their phones waiting for their movers to show up. You’re on the go. Your phone’s in your pocket. Your hands are full (literally).

Now, with Live Activities, the updates come to you—on your Lock Screen, Dynamic Island, and even Apple Watch—automatically, clearly, and in real time.

Let’s unpack it.

Notifications had limits. Live Activities changed the game.

Until now, push notifications were our main way of letting you know what was happening with your Lugg. And while they got the job done, they weren’t always perfect because they're:

  • Easy to miss, especially if you’re distracted or multitasking.
  • Mixed in with everything else—sales alerts, texts, and five reminders from that to-do app you forgot to delete.
  • One-and-done, meaning, once you’ve seen it (or accidentally swiped it away), it’s history.

And most importantly, they’re not built for the kind of live, unfolding experience Lugg provides. You don’t just need one update—you need an ongoing stream of helpful context as your move progresses.

Live Activities solves all of that.

What you’ll see (and when you’ll see it)

Live Activities give you visual updates throughout your Lugg, with new views appearing based on where you are in the process:

  • En route to Pickup: You’ll see your crews ETA to your pickup address.
  • Loading: You’ll know when they’ve arrived and are getting everything into the truck.
  • En route to Destination: Track progress as they make their way to the drop-off.
  • Unloading: See when they’ve arrived and are getting things into your new place.
  • Lugg completed: Get a clear signal when the job’s wrapped and it’s time to rate your crew.

The info you need, when you need it—no extra taps required.

Designed for movement

We didn’t just slap a timestamp on your Lock Screen and call it a day. We carefully mapped out every stage of a Lugg and how best to represent that visually in this new format.

Depending on your device and what you’re doing, you might see different versions:

  • Minimal: A small icon in the Dynamic Island for quick glances.
  • Compact: More detail, split on either side of the Dynamic Island.
  • Expanded: Tap-and-hold to reveal a full view of where your stuff is.
  • Lock Screen: Persistent updates while your phone’s locked, so you’re never left wondering.

This wasn’t just a design exercise. Each state needed to clearly communicate status, update in real-time, and be useful with just a glance. A challenge? Absolutely. Worth it? 100%.

One bar to rule them all

We also had to think creatively about how to show location progress without a full map. So we did what we always do at Lugg—kept it simple and intuitive.

Instead of a map, we built a sleek progress bar that gives you a clear, visual read on where your crew is in the journey. It updates dynamically based on your Lugger’s ETA, and it adapts depending on whether they’re loading, driving, or unloading.

This makes it easier to stay informed—and more importantly—stay calm.

TL;DR: Less checking. More knowing.

Live Activities are now available in the latest version of the Lugg app for iPhone and Apple Watch. You don’t have to enable anything—just book a Lugg, lock your screen, and let the magic happen.

We’re constantly working to make your moving and delivery experience smoother, faster, and less stressful. This is a big step in that direction.
